Welcome to the heart of Giriulla’s artisanal heritage! At Woody Land Artisans, we believe that every piece of wood tells a story, and through our Young Artisan Workshop, we invite the next generation to help write the next chapter. This is not just a classroom; it is a living, breathing workshop where the sawdust of tradition meets the spark of modern creativity.
In today’s digital world, we often lose touch with the physical world around us. Our workshop is a unique, hands-on journey designed specifically to bridge the gap between ancient Sri Lankan craftsmanship and the young creators of tomorrow. We believe that when a child picks up a tool and transforms a raw piece of timber into a finished masterpiece, they aren't just making a souvenir—they are building confidence, patience, and a profound respect for nature’s resources.
This 3-hour immersive experience offers a deep exploration of wood as a medium. Under the steady guidance of our master carpenters—men who have spent decades perfecting the art of the grain—kids and families will step away from screens and into the shoes of a traditional craftsman.
Throughout the session, participants will learn to master time-honored Sri Lankan tools, such as the Yakadakapana Kiyatha and the Buruma Drill, alongside modern creative techniques. We have carefully designed every step to be conducted in a safe, inspiring, and supportive environment, ensuring that even the youngest woodworker feels empowered to create.
Whether you are joining us to learn a new skill, spend quality family time, or simply to connect with the heritage of our region, you will leave our workshop with more than just a handcrafted item. You will leave with the pride of having created something lasting, a deeper understanding of Sri Lankan carpentry, and a memory that will last a lifetime.
Step into our world, feel the texture of the timber, and let’s build something extraordinary together.
